Local Stories - Global Connections PlaceStories is a software system for managing digital media, creating digital stories and publishing online. It is being customised to support the communication needs of community organisations, government agencies and others who work with communities, particularly rural and regional communities.

The aim of Living Sustainably: the Australian Government's National Action Plan for Education for Sustainability, launched in April 2009, is to equip all Australians with the knowledge and skills required to live sustainably. The plan has been prepared in conjunction with the National Council on Education for Sustainability by the Australian Government Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts.

The Environmental Trust is an independent statutory body established by the NSW government to support exceptional environmental projects that do not receive funds from the usual government sources. The Trust is empowered under the Environmental Trust Act 1998, and its main responsibility is to make and supervise the expenditure of grants. The Trust is administered by the Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water (DECCW).

The Trust is chaired by the Minister for Climate Change and the Environment. Members are the Director-General of DECCW and representatives from the Local Government and Shires Associations, the Nature Conservation Council and NSW Treasury.

Objectives
The objectives of the Environmental Trust are:

•to encourage and support restoration and rehabilitation projects
•to promote research into environmental problems of any kind
•to promote environmental education in both the public and private sectors
•to fund the acquisition of land for the national parks estate
•to fund the declaration of areas for marine parks and for related purposes
•to promote waste avoidance, resource recovery and waste management (including funding enforcement and regulation and local government programs)
•to fund environmental community groups
•to fund the purchase of water entitlements for the purpose of increasing environmental flows for the State's rivers and restoring or rehabilitating major wetlands.

Friends of Grasslands is an Australian community group which advocates and educates for conservation of Australian native grasslands and grassy ecosystems.

Watershed Landcare Inc is an incorporated group with a diverse membership whose common interest is repairing and improving our environment. Members include established landholders, town and village residents, land managers, people with country retreats and local businesses.

A radio show broadcast on Sydney station 2SER 107.3fm and on the CBAA Community Radio Network. Presented by Ruby Vincent, it is "a grassroots environmental show that is aimed at the general community to show that we can do things to improve our environment and STILL maintain an enjoyable standard of living."

In the Upper Murrumbidgee there are currently 17 Landcare Groups tackling problems that degrade our environment and reduce productivity. These issues include weeds, declining water quality remnant vegetation management and soil erosion.
